Lidarr¶
With LIDARR_ENABLED=true, LIDARR_URL and LIDARR_API_KEY set (or the same under Settings →
Server, where Test connection checks them):
- Where music goes. Each Lidarr root folder goes with the Nessie library it's inside: an album
added from a library goes to the root folder inside it, with that root folder's quality and
metadata profiles. A library with no Lidarr root folder inside it can't have music added (add
one in Lidarr's Settings → Media Management). When Lidarr runs in Docker it sees the music under
another path: set
LIDARR_REMOTE_PATHandLIDARR_LOCAL_PATH(e.g./dataand/srv/music). Test connection shows which library each root folder is in. - Requesting an album by an artist Lidarr doesn't have adds the artist (monitored) with only that
album monitored, not their whole catalogue; an album Lidarr has is monitored, with its artist,
and searched for. Artists Nessie adds get Lidarr's tag
nessie. An album the artist's metadata profile leaves out (a Single, when only Albums are allowed) is refused with the reason: Lidarr would take it, then drop it at its next refresh. - Search again, on an album Lidarr is looking for, has Lidarr search for it now: for one it hasn't found yet, or that never started downloading. It also monitors the album and its artist (Lidarr only keeps looking by itself for monitored albums of monitored artists).
- New music shows up through Lidarr's webhook: in Lidarr, Settings → Connect → + → Webhook, with the address shown under Settings → Server (it carries a token made from the API key), and On Grab, On Release Import, On Download Failure, On Import Failure, On Rename, On Retag, On Album Delete and On Artist Delete ticked. On Release Import is the one that says an album was imported: without it, Nessie still scans after Lidarr retags the files, but can't say what came. Each event that changes files scans the library they're in. Without the webhook, a library scan picks them up.
- Notifications. Open apps show a toast when Lidarr starts downloading an album, when it's in the library (after its scan), and when a download or an import fails. They go to whoever requested the album, and to admins; admins also hear when someone else requests one, and when a scan started from Settings → Libraries starts and finishes. Lidarr's Test button gives "Lidarr's webhook is connected." Requests are remembered until the album is imported, or for 90 days. Each notification is also kept for 30 days under the bell in the header, with a count of the unread ones: opening it marks them as read, and Clear all empties the list. Both apply to your profile on every device, and only to you (with profiles off, to each device). The bell shows for admins and profiles that may request music.
- Who can request. Admins, and profiles with Allow music requests (Settings → Profiles)
or in the
AUTH_REQUEST_GROUPgroup (nessie-requests). Requesters can search and request albums, and search again; only admins add whole artists, which can mean every album they made. - Covers in Request music come from Lidarr's image cache (
images.lidarr.audio), loaded by the browser.
